We have been posting about the all electric Mitsubishi I to debut next year, and we have another exciting electric for you. Check out the PX-MiEV II. This plug-in hybrid is based on the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander.

It has a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine in the font with two rear axle alectric motors that are powered by lithium ion batteries. All this gets you 500 miles on a tank.

According to Mitsubishi, this concept can go 31 miles before having to use gas. So if you have a 15 minute commute you could go a long, long time before heading to the pump.

2012 Mitsubishi i Is Biggest Winner in EPA Fuel-Economy Race

WASHINGTON — The 2012 Mitsubishi i is the biggest winner in the annual fuel-economy race, while the 2012 Bugatti Veyron is the biggest loser, according to the EPA's new fuel-economy guide. The top 10 are all electric or hybrid electric vehicles.

The EPA says the electric Mitsubishi i returns the gasoline equivalent of 126 mpg in city driving and 99 mpg on the highway. The Veyron returns 8 mpg in city driving and 15 mpg on the highway.

The 2012 Nissan Leaf takes the number-two spot among the fuel-economy leaders, followed by the Azure Dynamics Ford Transit Connect van and wagon. The electric Leaf returns the gasoline equivalent of 106 mpg in city driving and 92 mpg on the highway. The electric Transit Connect returns the gasoline equivalent of 62 mpg in city driving and 62 mpg on the highway.

Rounding out the top 10 list of winners are the Chevrolet Volt, Toyota Prius, Honda Civic Hybrid, Toyota Prius V, Lexus CT 200h, Honda Insight and Toyota Camry Hybrid LE.

Coming in at number two on the list of fuel-economy losers is the 2012 Ford E350 passenger van at 10 mpg in city driving and 13 mpg on the highway. The 2012 Chevrolet G3500 Express 2WD cargo van and GMC 3500 Savana 2WD cargo van take the number three spot with 10 mpg in city driving and 14 mpg on the highway.

Rounding out the top 10 list of losers are the 2012 Ford E350 commercial van, Chevrolet G2500 Express 2WD cargo/conversion van and G3500 Express 2WD and its GMC siblings. Others include the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL, the Lexus LFA, Ford E350 flexible-fuel van using gasoline, the Ford F-150 Raptor 4WD, the Aston Martin DB9/DBS and V12 Vantage and the Lamborghini Aventador coupe.

The AAA Daily Fuel Gauge says the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in the U.S. stood at $3.39 on Thursday versus $3.40 a year ago.

With the Tokyo Motor Show coming up around the bend, Japan's automakers are preparing to roll out their best. And Mitsubishi isn't about to sit idly by.

The Tri-Diamond automaker has two major world debuts planned for its home-market expo: one production vehicle and one concept. The former sees the return of the Mirage nameplate – most prominently used in the 1980s – in place of the Colt with a new entry-level model. The basic five-door hatchback packs an economical 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with stop/start and a continuously variable transmission that will hit the Thai market first when it launches in March 2012.

Joining the new Mirage on the Mitsubishi stage will be the Concept PX-MiEV II, a plug-in hybrid crossover that joins the i-MiEV electric car and the Minicab-MiEV light-duty commercial vehicle in the company's expanding portfolio of electric vehicles. A 2.0-liter four-banger is coupled to a pair of 60-kilowatt electric motors to drive all four wheels through theLancer Evo's S-AWC traction system to deliver comparable power to a 3.0-liter V6 while offering improved emissions and fuel consumption figures.

Among Japanese automakers in the United States, Mitsubishi is largely relegated to "also ran status" alongside the likes of Subaru and Suzuki, and behind heavy-hitting rivals like Toyota, Honda and Nissan. The Diamond Star automaker will soon have a lineup consisting of only three model lines. But that wasn't always the case, and may not be again if the latest reports come to fruition.

Although both the Eclipse and Galant are both being discontinued, sources aren't ruling out their potential return. With nearly one million units sold since its introduction way back in 1989, Mitsubishi claims the Eclipse to be the most successful Japanese sportscar in the U.S. market. And though that segment may have peaked, with rivals (like Subaru and Toyota) planning new entries, Mitsubishi could potentially re-enter the two-door market in the near future if the business case can be made.

The Galant – while a more practical, staple model – may prove a harder sell, as midsize sedans remain popular for the most part only in North America. Until then – with the Eclipse, Galant and Endeavor on their way out – Mitsubishi dealers will have to get by on the Lancer and Outlander (and incoming i-MiEV) alone. Lancer Model to Have All Wheel Drive

Yoichi Yokozawa, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, recently confirmed to Automotive News that a new Lancer SE will be arriving this fall as a 2012 model. The SE will feature the all-wheel drive of the Ralliart and Evolution models, but will be paired with the naturally aspirated engine found in the current DE, ES (pictured) and GTS trims.

Official details and pricing information has not been released as of this writing, but Automotive News reports that the SE will sticker for approximately $20,000. Mitsubishi says that the SE should account for 15 to 20 percent of all Lancer sales.

Adding the SE trim to the Lancer lineup is part of Mitsubishi's plan to someday sell 100,000 units in the United States again. The last time Mitsubishi sold over 100,000 vehicles in this market was 2007, when sales totaled 128,993.

2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse Saved My Daughters Life

Here is a story that a local customer wanted to share about the miraculous survival of his daughter in a terrible car accident. What we appreciate so much about this story is the fact that he credits the safety of his daughter to the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse he bought her shortly before the incident. If you are looking at buying a safe car for your loved one, take it from this gentleman and consider a Mitsubishi.

Dear Mitsubishi Company,

A 2009 eclipse saved my 16 year old daughters life......and I want you to know, and think you should let others know about it. As a father, when purchasing my child's car, safety was a primary concern. I researched all the typical coupes, Honda, Toyota , Nissan, etc. My daughter preferred the eclipse over all others, but I got relatively little information from your sales people as compared to the others. Long story short, I did enough research on my own that I thought the car had satisfactory safety features, and purchased a new 2009 eclipse. The entire purchase process was very very pleasant, and my daughter was ecstatic.

The rest of this story I couldn't make up...........6 months later, on a dark evening, she was coming home from a foot ball game, followed by a friend. While she played Tim McGraw's "Live like you were dying", she didn't see an approaching car, and pulled out directly in front of the car. The oncoming car 'T-Boned' her directly in the driver door, going approximately 45-50 miles an hour, and didn't even have time to hit their brakes.

My wife got a hysterical call from the young friend following my daughter as she witnessed the whole thing from her car directly behind my daughter, and said my daughter was unconscious and was being cut out of the crushed vehicle, and there was no one to give my wife any more information. I was away, and my panicked wife called a doctor friend who drove her to the scene of the accident. There is a fire/emergency medic station a mile away from the scene, so the 2 lane road was already shut down by as many as 10 emergency and medical vehicles.....it looked like a crash site at an airport. The doctor friend driving my wife was escorted to the ambulance while my terrified wife waited for the status of our precious daughter. The doctor came back and told my wife, Mackenzie's is OK,....maybe some broken bones, but no massive apparent injuries, no paralysis, ... incredibly, she's basically fine. Off to the hospital everyone went. As it turns out, she had only a fractured pelvis, not even any cuts or broken face bones, and thank god, no serious injuries. The safety features, design and construction of this car saved her life protected her from an oncoming car that slammed into her, directly at her face.

As it turns out, my daughter was sitting on her cell phone and the phone had dialed a friend, with the call going to that friends voice mail, so it recorded the 4 minutes, which happened to be 2.5 minutes before the accident, and 1.5 minute after. The friend played the message, recorded on his voice mail for us. We hear my daughter, unaware she's leaving someone a recording, singing- badly, ..loudly, 'Live like you were dying'. We then hear her scream, followed immediately by the sound of crashing metal, and breaking glass, etc. The radio continues to play the song for the next minute but my daughters voice is missing..........she was momentarily unconscious. Can you imagine hearing that?
As I said, I couldn't make this up.

Cars like this are popular first cars.........Every parent's first concern is that the car be safe. If I were you, I would be screaming this story in an effort to make every parent buying a car of it. We haven't been able to replace my daughters car yet due to financial circumstances, but when we do, we'll do all we can to make it another Eclipse.

Since this event, my daughter has gone on to be involved with the donor for life organization...which we became familiar with when our 'almost son' Jason Ray, was killed. Jason was the University of North Carolina mascot, Ramses, and while attending the NCAA basketball tournament in New Jersey 2 years ago, was struck by a car and killed just before the Tar Heels played. Jason, a thoughtful, energetic, vibrant young man was an organ donor, and his death brought national attention, including ESPN stories and a story on Oprah. The Organ Donation program has grown explosively as a result of the publicity. Having lost Jason, the thought of losing our daughter is crippling and Mackenzie has been very involved with the local red cross and organ donation program since her accident.

Having been close to death in too many ways now, please make sure that your dealers and sales people, and of course if possible, the public, are aware that your vehicles may help save a life.

Fun Holiday Sugar Cookies

This is a great simple cookie recipe that you can get creative with and are yummy as well!

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Additional sugar

Directions
In a mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Shape into 1-in. balls. Roll in sugar. Place on greased baking sheet; flatten with a glass. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes.

You can also roll the dough flat to cut fun shapes or divide the dough into seperate bowls and add a festive food color. You can also make your own frosting with a some powdered sugar, mix in a little water until you get a thick/creamy consistancy, add some food color, put in a zip lock bag, cut one corner of the bag and you are ready to decorate!

Halloween Safety

Halloween is one of the best holidays that kids can't wait for. But along with all the fun of trick-or-treating and eating candy there are a few safety measures that need to be considered first. Here are some helpfull tips to share with your children to make sure your halloween is a fun filled one with out all the harmful fright.

Do not go trick or treating alone. Parents should accompany little trick-or-treaters and be familiar with the neighborhood and the people who live in each house.
If you go trick or treating with friends, stay with the group.
Tell your parents the route you will be taking and when you will be home. Be sure to stick to your plans and let your parents know of any changes.
Stay in well-lit and populated areas. Do not cut through back alleys or across fields.
Be aware of any traffic. Carry a glow stick or flashlight and wear a reflective costume that is also flame retardant.
Make sure you can see through your mask and are able to breathe easily through it.
Scream and make a scene or run away if anyone tries to grab you or force you to go with them.
Do not go into anyone’s home or car without permission from your parent.
Stop only at houses that are well-lit.
Throw away any candy that has been opened, isn’t wrapped well or looks like it has been tampered with.
Do not throw eggs at a house or throw toilet paper in trees. That is vandalism.
Go to a school or church Halloween party instead of trick or treating.

ABS helps to eliminate wheel lock-up during panic or emergency braking. Wheel lock-up can make braking, steering and acceleration almost impossible. The ABS system constantly monitors wheel speed. Mall Curfew?

Our local Northlake mall has put in place a new curfew recently and there are quite a few people who have something to say about it, both good and bad.

Mall management recently added a new policy that anyone under the age of 18 cannot be in the mall unless they are accompanied by an adult after 5pm on Friday and Saturdays. Store managers believe it is helping keep out shoplifters and any kids that are up to no good. Some parents and responsible minors think it is unfair. Besides, what 17 year old with a driver’s license wants to go to the mall with their parents?

Culinary Collaborators

Today’s recipe is from the one and only Patrick Dowd, Sales Consultant here at Keffer Mitsubishi. Patrick is originally from Boston and moved to the city of Huntersville in August of 2007. Here is Patrick’s fantastic recipe that he brought with him from his native home-town:

Pizza Dough

¼ cup warm water
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 teaspoon white sugar
4 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons Italian-style seasoning
1 teaspoon salt, divided
1 ¼ cups flat beer
1 tablespoon olive oil

Pizza Sauce

2 tablespoons olive oil
1/3 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons shopped garlic
1 (28 ounce) can tomato paste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano
½ teaspoon black pepper

1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.

2. In a food processor, combine flour, Italian seasoning and salt. Pulse until mixed. Add yeast mixture, flat beer and oil. Pulse until a ball is formed. Scrape dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead for several minutes until dough is smooth and elastic. Allow dough to rest for 2-3 minutes. Divide dough in half, and shape into balls. Place dough balls in separate bowls, and cover with plastic wrap. Allow to rise at room temperature for about 1 hour, then store in the refrigerator overnight.

3. To make the sauce: Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Sauté onions until tender. Stir in garlic, and cook for 1 minute. Crush tomatoes into saucepan. Add tomato paste, basil, parsley and oregano. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Bake at 350 degrees until done. Time depends on how much toppings are added. Patrick likes his pizza thin and crispy with mozzarella and pepperoni but you can get creative as you like with this one. Kids will also have fun making their own personal size pizzas.

Culinary Collaborators

Who doesn’t love a good recipe? Especially one that comes from one of our local colleagues. Here is one from Angelo Libman, Finance Manager here at Keffer Mitsubishi.

Ingredients:
½ cup butter or margarine, melted
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ground mustard
½ teaspoon garlic salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
1 can - 6 oz cheddar or original french fried onions, crushed

In a shallow bowl, combine the butter, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic salt & pepper. Dip chicken in butter mixture, then coat with onions. Place in greased 9 inch square baking pan. Top with any remaining onions; drizzle with any remaining butter mixture. Bake, uncovered at 350 degreed for 30-35 minutes or until chicken juices run clear. Yields 4 servings.
